On October 15, 2024, the latest version TYPO3 v13.4 LTS was released! As a TYPO3 Gold Member Agency, this is always a small celebration, because new versions bring new features. The LTS version offers bug fixes for 1.5 years and additional security patches for another 1.5 years as standard and introduces interesting changes. More than 200 contributors have worked on over 3,300 Git commits since April 2023, adding approximately 140 new features!
TYPO3 v13.4 LTS Release
The most important innovations include:
- Reactive page/file tree: with optimized drag-and-drop and the ability to move elements, e.g. from the template folder, directly in the page tree. This makes navigating and managing your content and creating new pages really fast. Modern image formats such as WebP and AVIF are supported.
- Accessibility: The backend interface also complies with the European Union's accessibility guidelines.
- The backend has been given a more modern design and now supports light and dark modes as well as right-to-left languages (such as Arabic).
- In addition, the backend search function has been significantly improved and searches “page content, database entries, backend modules, and workspaces.”
- The form manager also has a new search function.
- Mass editing: Edit and/or update multiple records in the TYPO3 backend in one go. Typical examples are page properties or the metadata of uploaded files.
- Additional features include download presets for data exports and an improved system for creating custom content types.
- Developers benefit from a new schema API and the ability to generate database fields automatically.
- The backend no longer has a “typo3/” directory for accessing the backend—administrators can customize the entry point.
- There are new dashboard widgets.
System requirements:
TYPO3 v13.4 LTS requires PHP 8.2 or newer. This version is also required for Symfony version 7. The following database versions are supported:
- MySQL version 8.0.17 or higher
- MariaDB version 10.4.3 or higher
- PostgresSQL version 10.0 or higher
- SQLite version 3.8.3 or higher
If you are still using v11, please contact us to discuss how and when we can update your website to v12 or v13. Maintenance can still be provided for all users of version 12, but the update should be included in your budget planning for the end of 2025/beginning of 2026.
