In summer 2019, we were invited to submit a bid for the creation of a website for the Midwives' Center in Hanover.
"The project of the Midwives' Center in the Hanover region is being implemented by ‘pro familia Niedersachsen’ and the ‘Hebammenverband Niedersachsen e.V.’ (Midwives' Association of Lower Saxony) as cooperation partners. Funding is provided by the Hanover region as part of a three-year project, which will be evaluated on an ongoing basis. The project aims to counteract the growing shortage of midwives, make it easier for freelance midwives to organize their work and (re)enter freelance work, and offer (expectant) parents a comprehensive range of referral and counseling services for midwifery care and original midwifery services."
To implement the above functions, a CMS was needed that could optimally serve the needs and wishes of the client. With TYPO3, we were able to use a reliable and ideally suited CMS, which we considered the perfect solution in terms of the range of functions, flexibility, and customizability of the backend. After being awarded the contract, we refined the concept together in a kick-off meeting and reviewed the design status of a partner agency. The requirement of two deadlines – start of registration for midwives and go-live with an official date at the premises of the midwife center in Hanover – left no room for maneuver in the implementation. We were able to quickly program the delivered design in development.
A login for midwives with management of their own consultation hours, services, and course offerings is important, as is the ability for expectant mothers to find a midwife and courses for after pregnancy, for example. Both sides need to find what they are looking for quickly and easily.
A unique feature of the center is that employees can see when midwives have entered their free times and when these times need to be covered by another colleague. In practice, this means that if a woman is looking for a midwife and reports that she cannot find one, for example during the busy summer vacation period, a central office employee can give her the names of several midwives, as they can see when their colleagues are on vacation and can refer her to several colleagues who can share the care, as they can cover the period together.
We also designed and printed flyers and business cards for the center.
The project is initially limited to three years—we're keeping our fingers crossed and are happy to help further establish this important center in the Hanover region and ensure that it remains an established part of the Hanover area.
