You've won the European Heritage Seal! What a wonderful honor!

Dear Pader, dear people of Paderborn, dear Paderborn! You have truly earned this! The European Heritage Seal is one of the highest and most distinguished honors awarded to places that symbolize European unity, our shared values, and our history. It highlights places of great cultural significance, and one such place is now officially the beautiful Pader, Europe’s shortest river. And so are you: the lovely people of Paderborn and the wonderful city of Paderborn, situated right in the heart of the source region with around 2,000 springs from which the Pader rises.

This is a fantastic and truly amazing achievement! We at DRIVE are thrilled for you and with you. Right from the start, back in 2022, we had the privilege of working with you to conceptualize, design, and execute your campaign. First in Germany, and then, once you were selected, for the award in Europe. And now you’ve won it! Finally! Hurray!

The question that drove us was: What can the Pader River, Paderborn, and the people of Paderborn offer Europe and Europeans? What makes them special for Europe? We summarized the answers in the communication campaign “City. People. River. The Pader for Europe.”: How people in the city can best live together in harmony with nature.

And it’s truly wonderful to witness how much you all love the Pader, how you care for it, and how concerned you are for its well-being. How it enriches your lives and what you give back to it in return. Expressing these emotions was easy, because you show them in abundance. So we’re happy to congratulate you again and again: well deserved! Congratulations, dear Pader headwaters region and to all the people who live there. You truly are a very special place in Europe. And it is only fitting that you have received this award: the European Heritage Seal. For the Pader in Europe, the city, the people, and the river.
