10 reasons why we miss you, dear Brits
10. Your Queen
Who wouldn't want a grandmother like that? Always neatly dressed, devotedly caring for her beloved grandchildren. And doing so for your entire nation. We would want one too, especially now that Mrs. Merkel is retiring soon. But I'm sure you want to keep her. But please keep grandpa too, he looks like he smells and reminds you of something, doesn't he? We would have taken him with her, but without her: no thanks.

9. British Racing Green
The color of British racing teams for many decades: Sunbeam, Bentley, Aston Martin, Vanwall, Cooper, Lotus, BRM, and many others. With Sir Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Graham Hill—what heroes, what stories!
The color itself could have been called dirty olive, and others would have done so. But you ennobled it with its name. And that name says: back straight, gaze fixed on the distance, cup of tea held with your little finger extended. And all the dirt at your feet no longer matters. That's not just good style—that's called attitude.

8. Paul Smith suits
One of the best designers. Free, slim, elegant, never boring, always colorful, exciting, and surprising—just like his suits, shirts, and shoes. No need to buy online, it's too much fun in the stores themselves:

7. Knickerbocker Glory
Bright, colorful, lots of ice cream, candy, cream, and even more sweet stuff. The pinnacle of sweetness, difficult to climb, dangerous due to ingredients that are not always clearly identifiable. A sweet dream of a childhood full of stomach upsets. Only available in British.
Here's the recipe to make it yourself. Enjoy with caution and have fun :)

6. Your sailors
Captain Jack Aubrey by Patrick O'Brien, Commander Horatio Hornblower by C.S. Forrester, Lt. Howard Flynn by William Vance – they brave danger in storms and rough seas. They probably often caught a cold, and Hornblower was usually seasick and threw up over the railing. The books are still great, though. Here are two movie recommendations.

- Captain Hornblower, starring Gregory Peck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwwZMk4fnIc
5. Epic soccer matches
Your teams, your players, your fans, your passion. You made Dietmar Hamann a hero. In the 2005 Champions League final: Liverpool FC against AC Milan. The guy we thought was a dud, wrongly of course, comes on as a substitute for your team in the second half and, after trailing 0-3, scores the equalizer to make it 3-3! Then penalties: dramatic, unbelievable! Huge respect to Dietmar and everyone else!

4. London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony
The British are the best in Europe when it comes to pop music. Sorry, dear French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, German, and everyone else: it's just the way it is. We admired it at their farewell party for the Olympics in London: simply wow, what the British musicians gave us all there and before. Thank you very much for that. Have another party like that, dear Brits. As for Brexit – you're sure to win lots of new fans!

P.S.: Paul McCartney's performance at the opening ceremony: the whole of Wembley singing “Hey Jude” – goosebumps! Amazing!

3. Good crime series
You're really good at this. Your crime series are exciting, feature interesting cases, murderers, and investigators, and are well-crafted with good characters. The new ones: The Bodyguard, Luther, Broadchurch. Among countless chief inspectors, constables, commanders, and captains. The classic, with her distinctive jawline, hat and umbrella, remains the wonderful Miss Marple: watch her! And the old Sherlock, of course.

2. The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones
The two best bands in the world, competing with each other, they devise a universal cultural and musical code that connects us all – and you want to take that away from us by simply walking away, you Brits? How can you do that to everyone? Please! Please don't! Remember what really matters in Europe and around the world!

1. The British in Europe
What will become of Europe and all of us without you, British people? Your style, your good taste. Your music and pop culture. Not to mention your humor and wit – we will miss all of that so much! Oh, it will be gray and dreary without you. Come back soon, dear Brits.
