As a non-profit institute associated with the University of Goettingen, the Sociological Research Institute Goettingen (SOFI) investigates the transformation of work and crucial future societal questions. Focusing on digitalization, social inequality, and precarious employment, SOFI combines academic research with vital impulses for a democratic design of the working world. To present these highly relevant insights in a modern, streamlined, and international format, a comprehensive web relaunch was required.

DRIVE completely re-engineered the institute's platform technically, textually, and strategically.

Smart Database Engineering for Complex Academic Data

The biggest challenge in the academic sector lies in the logical structuring of massive data records. A research institute thrives through its minds and its publications. For this reason, we developed a customized, relational database architecture in the backend that seamlessly links staff members, publications, and download materials. Users can now browse research papers and author profiles in just a few clicks, while the institute's editorial team profits from a simplified data management process. All existing academic contents were integrated flawlessly into the new framework by DRIVE.

Accessibility Matching WCAG 2.1 and Global Reach

Academic insights must be accessible to everyone without exception. Therefore, our creative team designed a sleek, structured interface that strictly fulfills the rigorous requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) for digital accessibility. This guarantees an unrestricted user journey for all stakeholders across the university landscape and public spheres.

Because peak research does not stop at national borders, we also deployed a complete second language version in English. This ensures optimal global reach for SOFI and solidifies its positioning within the international scientific community.

Compromise-Free Data Privacy and Continuous Technical Support

Particularly in scientific contexts, the sensitive handling of user data is an absolute priority. The entire relaunch was executed under strict adherence to the GDPR. For data-privacy-compliant analysis of user behavior, we seamlessly integrated the open-source analytics tool Matomo, which operates completely independent of invasive third-party cookies.

This project is rounded off by our comprehensive service package: DRIVE handles regular technical maintenance and software updates, continuously standing by the institute's side as a reliable support partner for long-term digital development.
