Holistic Transformation for Lower Saxony’s Largest Social Enterprise
DIAKOVERE is the largest non-profit organization in the healthcare, social, and educational sectors in Lower Saxony, based in Hanover. More than 5,400 employees across 89 different professions carry out vital work every single day. Our mission as their digital and design partner was to translate this immense diversity and deep social commitment into a clear, intuitive online presence.
The final result positions DIAKOVERE as the central, highly accessible digital hub for healthcare and social services in Hanover.
Streamlining Structures, Removing Barriers
The biggest challenge? Reducing complexity. In intensive workshops, we completely overhauled the menu structure, drastically simplified content, and optimized user guidance.
A core focus of the project was unrestricted accessibility: the design and frontend programming meet the strict criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines according to Level AAA (BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549). This guarantees equal access to vital information for everyone, regardless of any impairments.
Powerful Technology, Seamless Integration
Under the hood, a modern, secure TYPO3 v12 engine drives the platform, combined with a lightning-fast Solr search function. To ensure flawless everyday performance, we seamlessly integrated a variety of external tools:
- rexx for smooth application and recruitment management,
- OpenStreetMap for quick, on-the-spot location tracking,
- Podigee for direct access to engaging audio content.
Thanks to our implementation of cookie-less tracking, user behavior remains fully analyzable while user privacy is completely protected and 100% GDPR-compliant.
From Digital to Analogue: The Corporate Design Refresh
Our work doesn't stop at web design. To safeguard DIAKOVERE’s diaconal profile and modern brand identity for the long term, we are currently designing a comprehensive corporate design refresh. This ensures a harmonious, consistent brand image across all classic print media and digital channels alike.
