Ausgezeichnetes Kultur-Portal und trinationale Systemarchitektur
Cloudbasiertes Collaboration-Engineering

Since 2012, DRIVE has supported the International Comic Seminar Erlangen, organized by the Cultural Office of the City of Erlangen and significantly shaped by comic expert Paul Derouet, as its digital lead agency. The seminar ranks internationally among the most prestigious talent and networking platforms for comic artists and graphic novel illustrators in Europe. The core strategic challenge of this comprehensive digital relaunch was to fully digitize the historically grown, decentralized, and predominantly analog application and documentation workflows, transforming them into a highly engaging, transnational web ecosystem.
DRIVE conceptualized and engineered a tailored cultural portal powered by the TYPO3 Enterprise CMS, perfectly merging exceptional creative direction with complex portal functionality. The technological centerpiece is a restricted, highly secure log-in environment designed exclusively for artists, lecturers, and the expert jury. Through this collaboration tool, the entire international portfolio submission and review process is managed completely paperless, encrypted, and fully automated. To match the profound internationality of the European creative scene, DRIVE implemented a trilingual system architecture in the three core languages of German, English, and French and orchestrated a seamless, agile mass migration of historical text and image archives across all three language editions. The modernized, dynamic UI/UX interface and a completely new, honest visual language reflect the seminar’s artistic essence flawlessly. Ongoing IT lifecycle management via continuous minor and major upgrades combined with secure managed hosting guarantees a resilient, protected live operation.
The Result
Over a decade of non-stop, zero-downtime live operation of a business-critical cultural infrastructure. The system dramatically reduces administrative friction for the Cultural Office, boosts international application rates, and permanently secures the Comic Seminar Erlangen’s position as a technological and artistic pioneer in the European cultural landscape.
