Social Media from #COP29, World Climate Conference

Yamina Probst is posting live from #COP29, the World Climate Conference 2024 in Baku. She represents the Youth Conservation Network and manages the social media accounts.

Exciting posts are coming from her and her colleagues, offering a great mix of information and impressions, all presented in a very engaging way. Enjoy watching and following!

Yamina, along with her colleagues, creates and posts for these social media accounts:

Great reach!

The users follow the three of them and experience the World Climate Conference together with them, sharing both the positive and exciting experiences they encounter, as well as the topics, conditions, statements, and processes that they might not fully agree with. The three will be there for two weeks: first for the preparation and then for the "actual" conference, where politicians from around the world come together to confer. Everything they create and showcase is very close and direct, clear and concise. And always with immense enthusiasm, empathy, fun, and a great deal of commitment.

And here’s a direct contribution:

“People actually wish for very different things: we want to reach young people and need a good mix of information and something fun to keep their attention.”

This is their concept and a very good guiding principle. They are also incredibly interesting for other age groups, which politicians find appealing, helping them gain attention.

Media Coverage

Through their media work, the three ensure that their concerns, along with those of many other young participants, also find their way into other media:

... as well as other daily newspapers and news media.

And as sad and disappointed as the three may feel at the end of the conference about the extremely meager outcome from their perspective and that of many, many others: they have still achieved a lot! They have contributed to raising awareness about important issues, brought these topics to many young and older people, and reached other media outlets. They have pointed out deficiencies clearly: in how topics were addressed at the conference, in decision-making and formulation, and in the increasingly blatant lobbying by many oil and combustion countries. They may have even warmed and softened a few cold political hearts. And where others tend to build walls, they have built bridges and created connections. When viewed from a distance, this is indeed a significant achievement.
