IT goes to school – inspiring young people to take an interest in IT

The organization “IT macht Schule” has set itself this great and important goal.

The focus is on recruiting young people for various IT professions. Through presentations and career orientation events at schools, they inform young people about the diversity of apprenticeship professions and dispel prejudices. IT macht Schule not only gives students an informative insight into the industry, but also provides very practical input through the various partner companies and the wide range of internships on offer.

Veranstaltung an der Ricarda-Huch-Schule

DRIVE had the fantastic opportunity to organize an event for ITmS as a partner company. On September 20, we visited the Ricarda-Huch-Schule in Hanover, where we gave 11th-grade students an insight into our agency and what we do, as well as the apprenticeships we offer, namely:

  • IT specialist for application development,
  • IT specialist for system integration,
  • media designer, and
  • marketing communications specialist.

Apprentices take center stage

The contributions to this event were put together by our trainees. Anna, Marketing Communications, Phil, IT Specialist for System Integration, and Sebastian, Media Design (digital and print), shared their impressions of their everyday work with the students, the demands and challenges they face, their personal experiences, and what they particularly enjoy about their training in their professions and at DRIVE. They answered questions from the students. It was an exciting exchange that imparted knowledge, allayed fears, and sparked enthusiasm for IT careers.

But what do our apprentices particularly like about careers in IT?

Phil, trainee IT specialist for system integration

Phil: “I like the diversity of the training, which allows me to design and optimize IT infrastructures. The main component is the integration of new hardware and software.”

Anna, Marketing Communications Trainee

Anna: “What I like about my apprenticeship is the variety of tasks I do every day. No two days are the same, and you're always confronted with new, unfamiliar topics.”

Sebastian, trainee in digital and print media design

Sebastian:  “What I like about this apprenticeship is the freedom to design. But the challenging part is coming up with the concept, because every design needs a reason why something looks the way it does.”
